Nintendo's Hiroshi Yamauchi has died at 85


When Yamauchi became president of Nintendo in 1949, the company was a small playing cards manufacturer. In 1963 Yamauchi renamed Nintendo Playing Card to Nintendo and massively diversified the company's efforts. In the following years Nintendo set up a taxi company, a TV network, and even a chain of love hotels before getting into toys in 1966.

Creative Arts Emmy Awards winners list


HBO led with 20 Emmys, followed by CBS with 15 and NBC’s with 11. HBO’s Behind the Candelabra was the most awarded program with 8 Emmys. CBS’ Undercover Boss won best reality show, South Park was named best animated show, while Project Runway‘s Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn took best reality hosts. The Guest Actor/Actress categories were the highlight of the ceremony with emotional wins for comedy great Bob Newhart, who snagged his first Emmy for The Big Bang Theory, Dan Bucatinsky (Scandal), Melissa Leo (Louie) and Carrie Preston (The Good Wife).

Director Hayao Miyazaki to Retire


Koju Hoshino announced Miyazaki's intention to retire Sunday, but declined to take questions, deferring to a news conference next week in Tokyo. "He wants to say goodbye to all of you, " the Studio Ghibli president said.
