The Robot Chicken DC Special!

The Robot Chicken DC Special!

Robot Chicken and DC Comics are finally consummating their mutual affection this Fall with the Robot Chicken DC Comics Special.

The Robot Chicken Nerd, Humping Robot and more will be paired with the world’s most iconic and amazing heroes, plus Aquaman. Joining the fray is DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer and frequent Robot Chicken collaborator Geoff Johns, who knows a thing or two about superhero hokey-pokery.

Your all-star cast will include Seth Green as Batman & Robin (as well as the eternally put-upon Aquaman), Paul Reubens as The Riddler, Neil Patrick Harris as Two-Face, Alfred Molina as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern, Megan Fox as Lois Lane, and Breckin Meyer as Superman, as well as Abe Benrubi, Alex Borstein, Clare Grant, Tara Strong, Matt Senreich, Tom Root, and America’s sweetheart, Zeb Wells.

Start prepping those inaccuracy-attacking forum posts now, gentlemen. It’s a long wait until Fall.

Side By Side Takes Digital vs. Analog Debate to the Movies

A common hysteria surrounds the inevitable switch from analog to digital, regardless of the industry: In journalism, it's the evolution from print to online; in photography and cinema, it's the switch from film to digital. In new documentary Side By Side, the filmmakers turn the lens on their own form, interviewing the world's most respected directors, cinematographers, editors and other Hollywood professionals to spark a meaningful dialog about the coming of a new era.

Be Very Afraid: The Cable-ization of Online Life Is Upon Us

Be Very Afraid: The Cable-ization of Online Life Is Upon Us

Just imagine trying to run a business that is utterly dependent on a single delivery network ? a gatekeeper ? that can make up the rules on the fly and knows you have nowhere else to go. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings is feeling just this way. He's trying to get Americans to care about Comcast's power to exempt "first class" streaming video delivered to Xboxes from its monthly internet usage caps.

Are You Geek or Nerd?

Are You Geek or Nerd?

Apparently, 17% of Americans self-identify as geeks: do you? I used to think that the words 'geek' and 'nerd' were synonymous, but colored subtly different depending on whether you were American, Australian or British (generally I believed 'nerd' was more accpetable outside the US). But there's more to it; as this great infographic from http://www.mastersinit.org demonstrates.

Will Theaters Bite at Hobbit's Superior Cinema?

Fast-Frame Hobbit Dangles Prospect of Superior Cinema, But Will Theaters Bite?

Director Peter Jackson is pushing the envelope with his highly anticipated fantasy film, shooting The Hobbit at 48 frames per second. It will become the first fast-frame 3-D wide release when it premieres this December, but will it be enough to make theater operators upgrade their equipment?

Jay Grace, Senior Animation Supervisor at Aardman Animations

Dream Jobs You've Never Heard Of: Senior Animation Supervisor

Jay Grace has a very cool job. As a Senior Animation Supervisor at Aardman Animations, he works on some of the best stop-motion animation films being produced today. In a world that has quickly become dominated by computer animated hits from Pixar and Disney ? and even Aardman itself ? it may seem quaint to be creating animated feature films using a technique that's almost as old as film itself; akin to making a black & white feature films. Yet the appeal of stop motion pictures is undeniable.

Comic Collection Tips from a Real Comic Book Man

With Comic Book Men just finishing up its first season on AMC, and the recent news of a long lost comic book collection selling for $3.5 million, my curiosity about comic collecting has been piqued. My own collection is modest, with just a few graphic novels and random issues, but I recently made my first purchase of a "collectible" for a whopping eight dollars. I decided I needed to talk to an expert about making these first forays into buying and selling comics.

The Hollywood Hacker, the guy behind the leaked nude photos of Scarlett Johansson, wreaked havoc on a number of celebrity's lives. The Hobbit Will Fundamentally Change Your Movie-Going Experience

The Hobbit Will Fundamentally Change Your Movie-Going Experience

According to an article over at the Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming release of The Hobbit will be the catalyst that finally drives movie theaters to upgrade their projection hardware to 48 frames-per-second (fps) or better. The current theater playback technology supports 24fps, a standard that dates back to the 1920s; this, in-turn, was an upgrade from the 16fps that was common for earlier silent films. As video-game enthusiasts are keenly aware, a higher frame-rate reduces jitter and provides much smoother video playback, and that translates to a more immersive and realistic experience overall. (And for the trivia buffs among you, the move from 16fps to 24fps was necessitated by the advent of movie audio -- the original 16fps film speed moved too slowly over the magnetic heads to produce quality sound playback.)

Axe Cop to launch Fox late-night animation block

Fox chooses Axe Cop to launch its new late-night Saturday animation block

Squarely hitting the entertainment sweet spot that unites 5-year-olds and the totally stoned, Fox has announced plans to develop Axe Cop—an adaptation of the web comic co-created by brothers Malachai and Ethan Nicolle—as the first addition to its burgeoning late-night Saturday animation lineup. For the unfamiliar, Axe Cop concerns a policeman who wields a firefighter's axe (so it's not just a clever name) as he battles crime with the help of various allies such as another cop who is also a flute but sometimes a dinosaur and occasionally an avocado, and a magical wish-granting baby with a unicorn horn. "What, did a little kid write this?" sneering skeptics ask, only to be chagrined to discover that, why yes, Malachai began writing Axe Cop in 2010 at the age of 5, and so those people should feel bad.
Besides, the comic has the excitingly unfiltered, accidentally absurdist ...
